Tamakoshi Jal vidhyut Company Limited (TKJVC) was established as a subsidiary company of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on 3rd March, 2017 to develop Tamakoshi V Hydroelectric Project. The project is located in Dolakha District of Bagmati Province along the Tamakoshi River, about 90 (aerial distance) km east of the national capital Kathmandu. By road, the distance from Kathmandu to the project area is around 170 km. The project area is situated within Longitude 86°10’30” to 86°14’30” East and Latitude 27°45’00” to 27°49’50” North. The whole project area lies in Bigu and Gaurisankar Rural Municipality. The overall management of TKJVC is entrusted to the Board of Directors, headed by the Managing Director of NEA.
The project is conceptualized to develop as a tandem operation project with Upper Tamakoshi HEP. The intake site / under-ground interconnection system with Upper Tamakoshi tailrace outlet is located in Gongar whereas the underground powerhouse lies at the right bank of Tamakoshi River just downstream of the Suri River confluence with Tamakoshi River.
Tamakoshi V Hydroelectric Projectis with installed capacity of 99.8 MW. The annual energy generation from the plant is about 495.148 GWh (Rolwaling not considered) and 543.494 GWh (Rolwaling considered)
Generated power from Tamakoshi V Hydroelectric project will be evacuatedto Khimti Substation through GongarKhimti 220 kV Transmission Line. About 3.4 km long (1.7 km Loop in and 1.7 km Loop out) 220 kV double circuit loop in loop out Transmission line will connect GongarKhimti 220 kV Transmission line and Tamakoshi V substation.
